1974 Nova SS Custom
I bought the car when I was 15yrs old for $1500.00. As you can imagine, it was a bad site but it only has 45,000 original miles on the odometer. It took me two years to build my toy with the help of my father. No, my car was not given to me like some other spoiled brats back in my home town. I worked at the local grocery store for 3 years now, and every penny has went to my car. We have done every bit of the work, from painting, drive train, engine, interior, you name it, we did it. We put new quarter and a new trunk floor due to the fact that you could stand through the floor and see the trunk through the quarter panels. New seat covers, headliner, carpet, B&M slap stick, and instrument panel were added. There was not to much left after sitting next to a garage for 14 years, and the mice had picked it clean. The motor was siezed up and would not even turn over, we bored it 30 over making it a 355 and added,
540 Holley Street Aveneger Carb., Aluminum Edelbrock Intake, 305 : 525 Comp Cam, Ceramic Coated Headman Headers, 3500 stall TCI torque converter, MSD hot spark ignition box, Accel Distributer, 350 Turbo Chevy Transmission, Delta Flow 40 Series Flow Master Mufflers, 12- bolt Housing from Mosier Engineering, 373 posi gears, axles and carrier also from Mosier, American Racing Hopster Rims 17" by 9.5" on the back and 15" by 6" on the front.
When we got done with all the goodies we had around 400 horse power. We also blocked the car 6 times never using an air tool ( by Hand) and painted the car Prowler Orange with Painted on Metalic Black with Pearl White Stripes and Decals. Every single piece was taken off and painted. The only thing that never came off of the car was the wiring harness. I hope to soon build a 4-bolt 355 motor with a 671 blower and much more radical cam. This car would never have gotten done without the help of my father. This car does get driven, whenever the weather permits. No trailer faries in my garage.
